2021 SUMMER ART EXPLORATIONS FOR KIDS

We're offering a variety of classes this summer for pre-teens and teens in glass, clay, mixed media and drawing at Main Exhibit Gallery's Art Center, Ligonier PA. Sign up for one or more classes. Take one class a month, or all three in a week.

EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVity IN GLASS

PRE-TEENS

In this class for pre-teens ages 6-11, participants will learn about balance in art and create two fused glass project; will create a mosaic stepping stone from glass pieces and a mirror glass mosaic wall hanging; will use glass to build a wind chime.

TEENS

In this class for Teens ages 12-18, participants will learn how to cut stained glass  from a pattern, use lead to assemble their panel and solder and soldering irons to inish their panel.

EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVity IN CLAY

PRE-TEENS

TEENS
In this class for pre-teens ages 6-11, participants will learn how to use clay slabs to build a variety of ceramic projects using low-fire clay and embellish them with underglaze. The instructor will glaze and kiln fire the work.
Three Wednesdays: August 4, 11, 18 - 9:30 am - noon

In this class for teens ages 12-18, participants will learn how to use clay slabs to build a variety of ceramic projects using mid-fire clay. When a body of work is completed, students will glaze their projects and the instructor will fire them in the kiln.
Three Wednesdays: August 4, 11, 18 - 1-3:30 pm

IN MIXED MEDIA

PRE-teens

In this class for pre-teens ages 6-11, children will work with a variety of techniques, including painting, printmaking and batik, to create two-dimensional works.
Three Thursdays: August 5, 12, 19 - 9:30 am - noon

IN PRINTMAKING

TEENS

In this class for teens ages 12-18, participants will use Soft-kut printing blocks and water -based inks to create relief prints. They will learn how to create a design and use cutting tools to carve their designs into blocks. Multiple designs and a variety of colors will be used.
Three Thursdays:  August 5, 12, 19 - 1-3:30 pm
