2021 SUMMER ART EXPLORATIONS FOR KIDS

We're offering a variety of classes this summer for pre-teens and teens in glass, clay, mixed media and drawing at Main Exhibit Gallery's Art Center, Ligonier PA. Sign up for one or more classes. Take one class a month, or all three in a week.

JULY 2021
EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVity IN GLASS

PRE-TEENS

In this class for pre-teens ages 6-11, participants will recycle glass into a bowl; will fuse glass to create a suncatcher; will create a mosaic from glass pieces and will use glass to build a wind chime.

JULY Pre-teen Glass Classes

TEENS

In this class for Teens ages 12-18, participants will recycle glass into a bowl; will learn how to cut glass, lead up their panel and solder and finish their panel.

JULY TEEN GLASS CLASSES

EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVity IN CLAY

PRE-TEENS

TEENS

In this class for pre-teens ages 6-11, participants will learn how to use clay slabs to build a variety of ceramic projects using low-fire clay and embellish them with underglaze. The instructor will glaze and kiln fire the work.
Four Wednesdays: July 7, 14, 21, 28 - 10 am - noon

JULY CLAY CLASSES FOR PRE-TEENS
In this class for teens ages 12-18, participants will learn how to use clay slabs to build a variety of ceramic projects using mid-fire clay. When a body of work is completed, students will glaze their projects and the instructor will fire them in the kiln.
Four Wednesdays: July 7, 14, 21, 28 - 1-3 pm

JULY CLAY CLASSES FOR TEENS

EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVity IN DRAWING

PRE-teens

Have fun with other kids learning drawing skills and how artists use them to create works of art. In this class for pre-teens ages 6-11, children will develop ability and facility in drawing using warm-ups, exercises, and imaginative storytelling about their pieces to engage their curiosity. Students will explore sketching, shading, values, and 3-D drawing with pencil and graphite.
Four Thursdays: July 8, 15, 22, 29 - 10 am - noon

JULY DRAWING FOR PRE-TEENS

TEENS

In this class for teens ages 12-18, students will learn to draw what they see by focusing on the contours and dark or light values of an object and seeing the shapes within. Students will explore differences between drawing from a photo versus drawing from life, working from both photos and still life set-ups to practice “seeing” and translating a 3-D image onto paper. Participants will work with a variety of pencils and graphite to sketch, draw, and shade.
