F D Pottery
Frank DeFabo started to feed his long-unfulfilled artistic vision a few years back when he gave up the baby delivery part of his Latrobe OB/Gyn practice and started throwing pots. In 2017, he made 800 various-sized plates for his daughter’s wedding.
Most recently, he was thrilled to have some of his wares selected for HGTV "Restored by the Fords" episode, Season 2 Premiere March 2019. He has been featured in Taste of Home Magazine, Galerie Magazine, Pittsburgh Magazine, Table Magazine, New York Times Cooking and others. Now his eponymous F D Pottery offers wheel-thrown items of all sizes for a variety of uses, from his popular wine and whiskey sipping cups to his made-to-order Mother of All Pasta Bowls. DeFabo donates 25 percent of all sales to Potters for Peace , a U.S.-based nonprofit that helps bring clean drinking water to impoverished communities around the world. Frank teaches a pottery class at Main Exhibit Gallery's art center. His next intermediate class for 2019 is scheduled for Wednesday evenings, 5:30-7:30 on September 11, 18, 25, October 2, 9, with glazing on October 23. |
