Raku-Fired Ceramics
I have always loved art, practically living at the Art Institute of Chicago on weekends during my childhood. It wasn’t until my coursework at the University of Illinois, getting my degree in Anthropology, that I got bitten by the desire to produce my own. I went back to school for a second degree, a Bachelors in Fine Arts. I think anyone can tell how influential my studies in Anthropology have been to my art. Rather than taking from other cultures, I have worked to try to understand the roots and similarities, and create what I consider my own culture. Also, animals, as “other” are very important to me. They provide inspiration in how they interact with us, and reflect our own nature. |
