Intermediate Wheel Pottery with Frank DeFabo
2020 Wheel classes: Wednesdays, 5:30 - 7:30 pm: January 8, 15, 22, 29, Feb 5
Glazing Class: Feb 19 This class is for students already proficient at centering on the wheel. In five 2-hour sessions, potter Frank DeFabo will help participants explore intermediate throwing and embellishing techniques. In the sixth session, students will glaze their bisque-fired pottery. Shino glazes will be available.
Registration includes 25 lbs. clay, glazes, one bisque firing and one glaze firing. Classes are limited to 6 students, ensuring a high level of individual attention. A proposed schedule for the class:
Week 1: We will throw and join multiple components to create extra-tall planters. Week 2: We will throw extra large narrow neck forms that will be carved and fenestrated to become lamp bases. Week 3 and 4: We will throw and assemble tea pots and matching cups. Week 5: We will create and small pieces of thrown and hand-built ceramics to be used as necklaces, earrings and other jewelry. |
