About the Artist
"I fell in love with the rhythm of throwing pottery years ago and enjoy producing work that is appreciated for both its function and beauty. I started selling pottery many years ago and joined Handwork, Ithaca's Cooperative Craft Store. I then became the long-term manager, helping to make Handwork one of the oldest and most successful cooperatives in the country. I am now very happy and excited to be making pottery again! My partner, Ken, helped me set up a beautiful new studio and I have been trying new shapes, new surface decorations, different techniques and new glazes.
I work in both stoneware and white stoneware. My work is wheel thrown and altered using various techniques such as fluting, carving, stamping and altering the clay. My work is electric fired to cone 6. All work is done by hand so pieces will all vary slightly. I am now printing my own decals from my home printer and sometimes combining them with my carved mugs or using them alone on my mugs. I hand craft all work and print my own sepia toned decals. I am also using some commercial color decals.
I offer a variety of glazes for many of my pieces. Some are available just as pictured. Many of the glazes have a lot of variation in them so please expect some differences. Thank you for choosing my work!"
