About the Artist
Diane Grguras has a B.S. in Medical Illustration from The Ohio State University and an A.S. in Scientific Illustration from San Bernardino Valley College (CA). She completed an internship in medical illustration at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in East Orange, New Jersey. She has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator and is a member of the Pittsburgh Pastel Artists’ League, the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, and the North Hills Art Center. She has taught art classes for adults and children. Her work in pastel is in the plein aire tradition, and considers color temperature and the effect of light. Diane's paintings are an expression of how she sees & feels about the natural world: her appreciation of its beautiful diversity, order, & logic. Plein aire painting has increased her observational skills by letting her see light, color & atmosphere in their true appearance. It has also provided an awareness of the spiritual quality of both the pastoral and the urban landscape. The idea that each person is unique and important is mirrored in these diverse places. Artwork is best experienced in person. Come to Main Exhibit Gallery for a look! |
