We designed this Open Studio as a creative outlet for potters already proficient at centering and throwing on the wheel. In these 3-hour sessions, feel free to let loose and explore your own designs and forms on the potters' wheel. We'll have a studio monitor available to answer any questions and assist you in getting clay, tools, etc. Please note there is no instructor available--this is your opportunity to create at your own pace! You'll also have access to a group glazing session offered once a month during an Open Studio session, where you can prepare your pieces for their final firing with either our included dipping glazes or your own paint-on glazes.
(Please Note: These sessions are designed for independent potters, NOT students registered in our current pottery classes. The free studio practice time included with our pottery classes excludes Sundays and is limited to studio availability. Our independent Sunday sessions require registration and payment.)
Your registration per person includes:
Use of studio tools (or feel free to bring your own!)
Bisque-firing of any pieces made during the session(s)
Group glazing session(s) on a later date (offered monthly)
Cone 4-6 dipping glazes (or bring your own paint-on glazes)
Glaze-firing of any pieces made during the session(s)
We offer a variety of cone 4-6 clay (Buff 553, 240 with grog, and 211) for $1/lb, paid at the studio, or you may bring clay from a previous class with our Art Center. No outside clay is permitted due to kiln risks.)
We know that everyone has busy schedules, so we created 2 options for you to take advantage of these Open Studio sessions! You can pick and choose Wednesday evenings or Sunday afternoons at your leisure.
