Kurt Pfaff
For more than 40 years, Kurt Pfaff has professionally produced artwork: as a graphic designer, illustrator and advertising agency owner. In our current show of his work, Kurt takes inspiration from many well known artists of the past such as John Singer Sargent, and explores interesting composition and color theory while embracing a loose impressionistic technique with both brush and palette knife.

"Painting has always been a source of great exhilaration. I lose time when I have a brush in my hand. This current exhibition displays some of my creative investigations on several levels. In some of these paintings I’m trying to create texture, raw energy and spontaneity along with depth through strong contrast and vibrant color. In other paintings I fall back on my experience as an illustrator and tell stories.
With my oil painting "Kaufmann’s Clock” the timepiece is depicted at sunrise with muted, almost monochromatic colors and strong shadows. I love that clock and this is my way to honor this beloved landmark while showcasing the workmanship of a bygone era. ~ Kurt Pfaff Ferns
