"I have a BA in Fine Art and Language Literature from the University of South Florida and have been selling and exhibiting my work for over 20 years. I donate artwork to local fund-raisers and occasionally teach workshops. I love the mud-lusciousness of clay! Clay combines sculpture and painting with it's three-dimensional form and surface decoration. My love of entertaining and gardening is reflected in my serving dishes and leaf designs.
My pottery consists of nature inspired, hand-built stoneware trays, platters and vases. All my pottery is made by me, one at a time. In my studio, I start by rolling out slabs of clay that are cut up into the various shapes and sizes that are needed. Then they are stamped with leaves and textures, and accented with slip-trailing. I design and make all of my stamps. Using multiple layers of glazes; each piece is unique! I use studio glazes that may may have slight color variations, so no two pieces are alike. My work is safe for the dishwasher, microwave, and oven, and is meant to use everyday as well as for celebrating special occasions. It is art that you can use! Enjoy!" ~ Terry Acker
