Jim & Linda Winegar, husband and wife, have been working with clay for 50 years. Their pottery studio is located on a 60 acre property in Greene County, in the very southwestern corner of Pennsylvania. They are planning a relocation out of state in 2023 to live near family. Jim and Linda are both graduates of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with degrees in Art Education. Their studies at IUP, with potter and ceramics instructor Frank Ross, began their lifelong adventures with clay.
The Winegars produce a variety of functional and decorative clay pieces. These range from utilitarian items such as vases, bowls, platters, casseroles and dinnerware to more decorative objects such as large floor pots, and one-of-a-kind carved and embossed vessels with precious and semi-precious stones as adornments. Much of their recent work has included the addition of hand-formed oak leaves and acorns, reflective of the beautiful rural setting of their home and studio. Most of these stoneware clay pieces are created on the potter's wheel and fired to 2300 degrees. The utilitarian ware can be used in the oven and microwave and is dishwasher safe.
